If a topic is struck out, it means we have received multiple requests for that topic and have enough accepted candidates for a number of subtopics. We usually don't accept any more requests for that specific topic (unless, of course, you have a super cool idea not already covered).
If a topic has "requests pending" it means we have received at least one application and either this application is not finished yet, or the topic contains enough room for two candidates. If you're interested in that topic as well, you should take you heels.
